Treatment for Infectious Disease in Hospital in Germany

Prices for Treatment of Infectious Diseases like Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis etc. in Germany

The following prices are presented to give you a clear and (almost) definite idea of the costs you would be facing if you decide to have an operation or other medical treatment done in Germany. They are based on the assumption that there will be no serious complications and that there are no serious risk factors involved (e.g. extreme obesity, underlying other diseases, very old age etc.) that might create additional potentially costly challenges for the German doctors and hospitals. Prices do include our organisational fees, but they do not cover travel expenses, costs for hotels, costs for hiring translators etc. Please note that not all of our German partners will be able to offer these prices, which is why all price quotations should be regarded as "starting from". If you decide to go to one particular hospital, we will have to confirm for you if that prticulr hospital is able to perform the required procedure at the quoted price or if it might charge a slightly higher price.

This price list is currently under preparation. More detailed quotes will be available shortly.

 Treatment for Hepatitis C:

Diagnosis and Treatment of Hepatitis C involves:
confirmation of the diagnosis of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection - usually through second-generation enzyme immunoassay (EIA-2) for antibodies to HCV (anti-HCV), also through recombinant immunoblot assay (RIBA) or tests for HCV RNA
Determination of genotypes - important for feasability and success chances of treatment
assessment of severity of liver disease - through liver biopsy
determination of the patients' suitability for treatment: favorable response to interferon therapy can be expected in case of low pretreatment serum HCV RNA level, HCV genotypes 2 and 3, and absence of cirrhosis or significant fibrosis.
during treatment: close supervision of serum HCV RNA level during the first few weeks of treatment - as responders to treatment often react in a typical way.
combination therapy of Interferon-alpha and Ribavirin
Due to the high costs of medications and the long period of administering them (6-12 months) the therapy can be extremely costly, costing about 3000-4000 Euros per month just for medication. In addition there are costs for accommodation. The treatment should be constantly supervised by medical specialists as the combination therapy has serious side effects (similar to or even worse than chemotherapy)
Alternative Option for all kinds of hepatitis: Neural Therapy, Course of 10 sessions spread over 5 weeks (can often help to have symptoms drastically reduced and improve general state of organ and body considerably): from 1000 EUR

 Treatment for Tuberculosis:
The first step in treating a tuberculosis that has been unsuccessfully treated before is identifying suitable pharmaceuticals. Often there is a multiresistant strain of the bacteria taht will be affected by very few medications. In some German cities advanced technologies exist to evaluate the resistance resp. multiresistance situation of a patient within 3 weeks instead of the usual six weeks. After that a long period of regular medication is necessary. During this period patients will not need to be in Germany, but can take the medication along to their home country. In case of open tuberculosis patients will not be allowed to stay in hotels, but must stay in a hospital to reduce the risk of infection to others. In other cases patients can stay in a hotel and have all diagnostics done on an outpatient basis. Therefore prices will vary widely for this kind of treatment.
